Tanshin was the eldest son and pupil of Tan’yū Kanō. On his father’s death he became the chief painter for the shogun of the time. Tanshin’s painting style follows that of his father but he typically colored his painting subjects more accurately. Eleven of Tanshin’s flower and (or) bird paintings are included in this gallery.
